Cheque Presentation to Derian House Childrens Hospice

Cheque handover to Rhoya from Derian House Childrens Hospice in Chorley.
The Blackpool Region of the TVR Car Club raised £2958.60 at an
event held in September of this year. They then raised a further £62
at The Ship at Elswick today, at their annual festive meet with a raffle to
bring them through the £3000 barrier.
Final total raised £3020.60

The Ship's Hungry For The Captain To Stay
Staff at the most talked-about dining pub in Lancashire, The Ship at Elswick, are joining the thousands of Blackpool FC fans who want inspirational captain, Charlie Adam, to resist the lure of Liverpool FC and stay at the club until the end of the season.
Charlie has become a regular face at the popular eatery and even took time to pose for a photograph with some of Ships Staff , during a recent visit.
Fittingly, the ace mid-fielder even booked the 14-seater Captain's Table, positioned in a more private part of the dining pub, though he did remove the armband for the evening whilst celebrating his girlfriend's 21st birthday!
Fans wishing to have their own celebration in the Captain's Table area can book on 01995 672777, but otherwise bookings are only required for tables of six or more. Customers may eat either from the extensive a la carte menu, which includes bar snacks and light bites, or from an ever-changing selection of Chef's Specials.
CitizenShip Initiative At Elswick Eatery Is Good News For Both Causes And Fundraisers
The charitable efforts of an Elswick pub have resulted in almost £2000 being raised for good and local community causes.
The Ship at Elswick and its employees have thrown themselves into what they are calling a CitizenShip drive, not only raising money through their own efforts, but also creating a charity evening option that can help anyone generate valuable sums for their chosen cause.
The most recent example of fundraising came in the form of a Britain in Bloom evening that raised £330 for Elswick village as it attempted to seize the national Britain in Bloom title. The money went towards plants and displays within the village, contributing to community pride and community action.
Prior to this, employee Hannah Thistlethwaite staged a Kilimanjaro night at The Ship at Elswick, opting to adopt an event format that is a real bonus for anyone seeking to raise sums for charity.
Hannah raised £1600 for the Child Reach charity by selling 120 tickets for an African-themed three-course meal at The Ship. The Ship donated 25 per cent of the cost of the meal per head to her chosen charity, Child Reach. Raising this money enabled Hannah to book her place on a climb of Kilimanjaro, to raise even larger amounts.
“The Ship is keen to help others succeed by using this event format,” says manageress, Caroline Colbourne. “Hannah showed that by putting effort behind selling tickets, it is possible to raise tangible sums from just one evening staged here, thanks to our 25% contribution policy. This is something that all charity fundraisers should consider, as it really can boost the money in the charity coffers considerably.”

Oh My Word! Good Sports At The Ship at Elswick Lay On A Really Tasty Treat
Leading Lancashire eatery, The Ship at Elswick, is helping to celebrate the arrival of Wimbledon and an Ashes summer by creating a special dish that could be said to combine the two.
From Thursday 20th June to Wednesday 3rd July, ‘Wimbledon Duck’ will be on the menu, this being a duck breast served pink with fondant potatoes, broccoli florets and strawberry and black pepper jus.
This combines the classic strawberry taste associated with the Wimbledon Championships at the All England Lawn Tennis Club with the cricket terminology for not recording a score at the wicket, but is also a truly tasty treat that diners will enjoy.
The taste sensations of summer are also being served up in other specials during this period. Starters are a pigeon breast (served pink) with beetroot, leaves and raspberry vinaigrette, pork belly and scallop, served with black pudding, crisp pancetta and pear puree, and a sharing baked Camembert, served with breads, homemade oils, butter and olives.
Gracing the main dishes’ menu along with Wimbledon Duck are lemon sole with a crushed new potato tian, broccoli, shrimp and caper butter, and pork fillet medallions, with potato dauphinoise, roasted shallots and porcini mushroom jus.

The Ship Encourages Diners To Fish For Other Varieties Of Seafood
Elswick eatery, The Ship at Elswick, is sending out a message on a plate over the next fortnight (June 6 to 19), by showcasing mouth-watering fish dishes based on sustainable varieties, to help celebrate World Ocean’s Day on June 8.
The popular Lancashire dining pub is getting into the swim of World Ocean’s Day with some delicious delights that will thrill any fish lover and a two courses for £17.95 offer, Monday to Friday, with a voucher downloadable from the website and in line with the terms. This can save up to nearly seven pounds on the standard price of the two dishes, depending on choice of dish.
Starters for the fortnight are: mussels and chorizo in a garlic and cream sauce and served with rustic bread; scallops on poori – scallops with aubergine puree and wild mushrooms - and Dublin Bay prawns with roasted red pepper and chilli sambal and Asian cucumber salad.
The first marvellous main is salmon en croute, with fennel and smoked salmon, encased in pastry and served with creamed leeks, a garden pea and lemon butter sauce and crushed new potatoes. The mains menu also boasts mackerel and mash accompanied by broad beans and beetroot and served with a whisky and mustard sauce. The final mains treat is halibut fillet with a clam and dill cream sauce, Irish cabbage and crushed new potatoes.
The sustainable fish specials will be available alongside the already extensive menu at The Ship at Elswick and will be something with which to delight Dad on Father’s Day, though booking of any size of table for that day is essential.
As well as helping to spread a sustainable fish message, the dining pub will donate 20 per cent of the takings from the diners taking up the two-course offer with the special promotional voucher to the World Oceans Day fund

Diners can get in line and join the BBQ Bonanza taking place at leading Lancashire eatery, The Ship at Elswick, over the next fortnight (May 23 to June 5), come rain or shine.
With a voucher downloadable at www.theshipatelswick.co.uk two BBQ courses can be enjoyed for £14.95 on most days (excluding Bank Holiday Monday), giving families some juicy and succulent barbecued delights to tuck into, while the children enjoy their own Ship feast.

Mouth watering main dishes on the BBQ Specials menu are Garlic and Chilli Chicken with salt crust new potatoes and aioli, a char-grilled Tuna Steak with tomato and chilli, cucumber relish and buttered new potatoes and a Pork and Apple Burger with tasty caramelised onions, hand cut chunky chips, BBQ relish and leaves.
A real treat for Spring Bank Holiday Monday (May 27) will also be served at The Ship at Elswick. The Ship’s chefs will be rustling up a fabulous Slow Roast Beef, with all the trimmings, which will provide a traditional British food lover’s delight on a non-working day for many.
